Doug graduated from Edinburgh University in 1990. After spending the first five years in mixed practice he made the move the world of small animal practice.

In 2007, after a two-year study programme he passed the Royal College Certificate of Small animal Surgery. This depth of surgical experience led to Doug becoming a partner in 2011. Outside work he is kept in line by two daughters, two dogs, a cat and and a wife. He also cycles, snowboards, plays golf, and walks with his dogs.
